Overview

Every tourist to South Africa has a wine tasting session on his itinerary.  And with good reason as South Africa has fantastic wines!  However, a new type of experience has emerged in the Garden Route… Artisan Coffee!

In recent years, the Garden Route coffee scene has exploded with artisan coffee roasters popping up in every small town.  Locals are spoilt with a wide range of choices and each one has their own favourite

On this tour, you will have the opportunity to sample a new selection of artisan roasted coffees from local Garden Route Roasters.  Each roastery we visit will allow you behind the scenes access to their roaster and explain how they procure their beans, their roasting process and what they see as the best way to brew the perfect “cup of joe”.

The first Roastery will focus on giving you a more in-depth view of what to expect when sampling their coffee and how your senses should determine your preference.  A unique pairing experience awaits you at Roastery 2 where the roast master will show you how not only wine but coffee and a delicious lunch can be paired.  At the final Roastery, you will be pairing desserts and coffees and see how the sweetness of a tartlet can complement an artisan roasted cup of coffee.

FAQ's (Frequently asked questions)

Of course! The roasteries will be more than happy to sell you their products.
The coffee culture is a more adult experience and children under the age of 12 may become distracted and not appreciate the more technical aspects of the coffee roasting process.
George is the capital city centrally located in the Garden Route. Please contact Xplore English for a quote to arrange a charter service to and from the starting point should this be required.
The Garden Route is a malaria free zone. There are many pharmacies where you can stock up on medicines. Certain medicines can only be bought with a doctor's prescription.
All Xplore English tour guides have First Aid level 1 as per the South African Tour Guide Association's rules and regulations. This entitles them to assist in a medical emergency or take control if needed, but they are not allowed to administer or supply medicine.
